Geoff Dwight (pictured), 56, of Bourthien, Ruthin, North Wales, pleaded guilty in December 2021 to possessing ‘magic mushrooms’ at his home.

On arrival he carried a trident over his shoulder in case he had to take the oath – but security guards refused to let him into the building.

Prosecutor Justin Espy said the Class A drug, intended for personal use, was found during the search.

Defense lawyer Nia Dawson said: ‘The most disturbing thing is that it has taken 13 months for this matter to come to court, it is unacceptable.

‘A small amount of mushrooms were found in his premises. He forgot they were there. They are against the law.’

Dwight was self-employed and earned £6,000 a year. But last year his income was reduced to zero when the police confiscated his phone and computer.

Leaving the court, he explained that the ‘religious’ pole represented Sheba and Britannia.

He said: ‘Brexit happened so we are sailing the world’s high seas again. If I had to swear, I would swear on it.’

Geoff Dwight has barely kept in touch with his famous half-brother and has led an ‘alternative’ lifestyle in the picturesque valley of Clwyd where he hand-builds yurts and harps and organizes music events.

In 2021 he was fined £200 for flouting coronavirus laws by going to an illegal ‘rave’ in the Welsh countryside with more than 200 revelers.

Appearing at Llandudno Magistrates’ Court, Dwight was fined £120 and ordered to pay £119 costs.

Dwight has previously criticized how his father Stanley was portrayed as cold and supportive in the Elton John biopic Rocket Man.

In the film, Stanley questions whether a young Sir Elton is good enough for a scholarship to the Royal Academy of Music and scolds him for not practicing his piano scales.

But photographing Stanley last summer, Dwight, one of Stanley’s four younger sons from his second marriage, said: ‘This is not the father I remember.

‘Dad had a big heart and loved us all equally. He was incredibly proud of Elton and what he had achieved.’

He added: ‘This winter, it’s a million miles away from what Dad was like.

‘He was a product of a time when men hugged each other and didn’t share their feelings every minute of every day, but he had an immense love for us all.

‘As a child, my memories of Dad are of him laughing and rocking around. If one of us was upset, he would do something silly like pretend to be a chimpanzee or start tickling us.’

The makers of Rocket Man called the film a ‘fantasy musical’. Stanley died in 1991.

Sir Elton was born Reginald Dwight and took his new name in 1972.
