The Cowboys’ seal compounded their playoff woes with a fifth missed PAT.

SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) — The Dallas Cowboys Brett Maher Dropped his fifth extra point of the postseason when his first attempt against San Francisco was blocked.

The Cowboys were stuck with a seal for Sunday’s divisional round game against the 49ers until he set an NFL record with four misses last Monday night against Tampa Bay before making his final attempt.

The move looked questionable after Maher’s first attempt against the 49ers fell short and was blocked by Samson Ebocum.

Maher’s five extra-point attempts over the last two games left him tied for second in NFL history. Roy Garrella missed six of 43 attempts for Houston and Pittsburgh in the 1970s.

Dallas signed Tristan Vizcaino to the practice squad this week as insurance, but did not activate him for the game.

Maher was in the top 10 in field goal success rate during the regular season after making 29 of 32 (91%). He was 50 of 53 on PATs before the playoffs.

A dust-up pregame was done while the seal was warming up. Trent Williams and other 49ers players tried to interfere with San Francisco’s efforts from the sideline, prompting a brief argument.
