MANILA, Philippines – Topex Robinson will call the shots for the De La Salle Green Archers starting in the UAAP Season 86 Men’s Basketball Tournament.

The school announced Wednesday that Robinson has taken over the coaching reins, replacing Derek Pomaran, who led the team the past two seasons.

“De La Salle University is pleased to announce the appointment of Michael Christopher “Topex” Robinson as head coach of the men’s basketball team effective today, January 19, 2023,” read a statement from La Salle.

Robinson, 48, is making his first UAAP stint with the Green Archers after leaving a mark in the PBA and NCAA — both as a player and coach.

Robinson addressed his appointment with a tweet.

“FAITH.SERVICE.COMMUNION #Animo,” Robinson posted.

Robinson called the shots for San Sebastian College from NCAA seasons 87 through 90 in his first year as the team’s runner-up coach led by the ‘Penatubo Trio’ of Calvin Abueva, Ian Sanglong, and Ronald Pascual.
